Our team recently had the pleasure of welcoming Laurent Ponsot, one of Burgundy’s most visionary winemakers, together with his wife Christèle Ponsot, for a staff training session with Altaya Wines Team.
In 2017, Laurent has redefined his role as an “haute couture négociant”and embarked on a new chapter, based in Gilly-lès-Cîteaux, working alongside his son Clément. Drawing on decades of experience in Burgundy, the project reflects a vision that unites tradition with precision and innovation. Ponsot’s philosophy has always been guided by authenticity and an uncompromising respect for terroir,
allowing each vineyard to express its purest character.
Even the identity of Laurent Ponsot reflects this thinking: neither strictly a domaine nor a maison, but a state of mind — expressing a vision of both crafting and assembling wines. Its logo symbolises the dialogue between vine and wine: the green “L” evokes young vine leaves emerging from the bud and descending from the sky, while the dark grey “P” is rooted in the quiet half-light of the cellar.
At the same time, the domaine embraces thoughtful innovations to protect the integrity of its wines — from temperature indicators on the label that reveal potential heat exposure during transport, NFC capsules, to a technological closure designed to regulate oxygen exchange while preventing leakage and cork taint.
