Clos de Tart is situated in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, at the heart of Burgundy's esteemed Côte-d'Or terroirs. Its rich history and unique terroir give it a distinctive place in the Côte de Nuits. As one of only five Grands Crus Monopoles in Burgundy, Clos de Tart spans 7.5 hectares, making it the largest of its kind.
The vineyard was originally acquired by the nuns of Notre Dame de Tart in 1141 and remained in their possession until the French Revolution. In 1932, the property was purchased by the Mommessin family, who owned it until last year. Under the meticulous management of Sylvain Pitiot, who took over in 1996, the wines reached new heights.
In 2017, the domaine was acquired by François Pinault's Groupe Artemis, marking only the third change of ownership since the 12th century. Clos de Tart continues to be celebrated for its exceptional quality and heritage.
