Jean-Pierre Guyon is a respected and meticulous winemaker based in Vosne-Romanée, Burgundy, leading his eponymous domaine, a family estate established in 1938 by his great-grandfather. Alongside his wife, Isabelle, Jean-Pierre has managed the domaine since 1991, focusing on producing high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines from their 9-hectare vineyard holdings, primarily in the Côte de Nuits (Vosne-Romanée, Échezeaux, Gevrey-Chambertin, Nuits) and additional plots in Savigny-lès-Beaune and Chorey-lès-Beaune. The domaine’s vines, averaging 45 to 85 years old, contribute to the intense, concentrated character of their wines.

Since 2006, the domaine has embraced organic viticulture, achieving ECOCERT certification in 2012. Jean-Pierre employs biodynamic practices, such as following lunar cycles for vineyard treatments, and uses minimal intervention in winemaking. The vinification process has progressively evolved since 2016, with the use of whole bunches moving towards his special technique “en nuage,” thanks to a very long sorting table where 30 people cut the bunches into smaller parts and practice severe sorting. The cuvaison is long and gentle, more like an infusion. Only the very minimum sulfur is added before bottling, often without fining or filtration. These methods yield wines with a distinctive “old-vine core,” powdery tannins, and deep, integrated cluster expression, described as elegant yet assertive.

Notable wines include the Vosne-Romanée “Les Charmes de Mazières” (village-level, from old vines in Hautes Maizières and Les Chalandins), Grand Cru Échezeaux, and Premier Cru wines like En Orveaux and Les Brûlées. Critics praise the domaine for its terroir-driven wines, with the 2022 Vosne-Romanée villages noted for its rose petal aromas, alpine strawberry notes, and glossy aftertaste, recommended for drinking from 2028 to 2035.
