Jacques Frederic Mugnier Musigny Grand Cru 1988
I have had distinctly mixed luck with this wine with some of them offering a wonderfully complex and now completely secondary nose of earth, game and spice notes yet others seeming reticent and rather vegetal. In the better examples, the once robust flavors have mellowed to an attractive richness without losing the natural precision of a fine '88 on the long, balanced and still punchy finale. Other examples though have been borderline drying and astringent.
