Domaine Jean Marc et Thomas Bouley is a distinguished winery nestled in the Côte de Beaune region of Burgundy, particularly known for its exceptional wines from Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune. With a rich history of vineyard cultivation spanning numerous generations, the Bouley family is dedicated to crafting high-quality wines that embody the region's heritage.
The family's viticultural journey began in the early 20th century, when François Bouley managed the estate from 1919. His son Christian succeeded him in 1948, and in 1974, Jean Marc established his own domaine, adding his father’s vineyards in 1984. In 2002, his son Thomas joined the domaine and became its manager in 2012, aiming to elevate the estate’s reputation among the great domains of Volnay.
Domaine Bouley encompasses 12 hectares of carefully tended vineyards in some of the Côte de Beaune's most esteemed appellations. Committed to sustainable practices, the family avoids herbicides and chemical fertilizers, regularly plows the soil, and limits yields to 6-8 bunches per vine to ensure high-quality fruit.
In the cellar, winemaking follows a philosophy rooted in tradition and respect for the grapes. Vinification begins with hand-harvested fruit that undergoes fermentation using natural yeasts in open steel vats. Aging takes place in new oak casks for 12 to 22 months, depending on the vintage and cru, allowing the wines to develop complexity.
Through their dedication to quality and authenticity, Domaine Jean Marc et Thomas Bouley continues to captivate wine enthusiasts, preserving the rich Bouley family legacy while looking toward a promising future in winemaking.
