Before founding the domaine, Patrice Rion was responsible for the family estate, Domaine Daniel Rion, where he gained a reputation for expanding its presence in the international market during the early 1980s. His innovative spirit led him to embrace modern practices in winemaking and farming, introducing techniques such as screwcap usage and methods to enhance leaf surface area for improved grape quality. In 2000, he built his own winery and launched a negociant business, SARL Patrice Rion, further solidifying his impact on the wine industry.

Today, Domaine Michele et Patrice Rion farms approximately 9 hectares of vineyards, with a focus on prestigious appellations such as Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée, and Chambolle-Musigny. While they predominantly produce red wines from the Pinot Noir grape, they also cultivate 1.20 hectares in Nuits-Saint-Georges for white wine, blending 90% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Blanc.
