Romain Taupenot of Domaine Taupenot-Merme expressed his delight with the 2021 vintage, noting its impressive purity and transparency. Harvest commenced on September 23, starting with the Corton vineyards, then moving to the Côtes de Nuits, and finally returning to the enhanced holdings in Auxey-Duresses. The wines achieved exceptional alcohol levels between 13% and 13.6% without chaptalization, showcasing a meticulous vinification process that underscores Romain's commitment to quality.

Though the Côtes de Beaune faced challenges due to mildew and oidium, leading to lower yields, the Côte de Nuits produced even better results than 2020, exceeding 30 hl/ha in the Grands Crus. Romain's gentle approach, including more punching down, facilitated the expression of vibrant aromatics, and the wines have continued to flourish after malolactic fermentation, echoing the success of the 2017 vintage.

With all grapes destemmed and aged in a balanced proportion of new oak, the wines were racked in early October, with many set for early bottling, especially the smaller cuvées. Overall, the 2021 vintage at Domaine Taupenot-Merme promises to deliver an exciting collection of wines for enthusiasts to enjoy.
