Rhys Vineyards is dedicated to producing exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Syrah wines from some of California's most distinctive vineyards. With a focus on rocky soils found in the mountainous, cool Coastal climate zone, Rhys has meticulously developed seven estate vineyards over the past 15 years, including six in the Santa Cruz Mountains and one in Anderson Valley. Each vineyard is carefully managed using organic and biodynamic principles to ensure minimal intervention and maximum expression of terroir in the wines.

Proprietor Kevin Harvey and winemaker Jeff Brinkman champion a hands-off winemaking approach to showcase the unique characteristics of each vineyard. Their philosophy centers on achieving pure, silky concentration through low yields, maintaining beautiful balance, capturing fresh fruit flavors, and emphasizing complex aromatics. They aim to create wines with the ability to age gracefully in the bottle while offering thrilling complexity and a strong sense of place.

The winemaking process at Rhys Vineyards is meticulously executed in their state-of-the-art facility, The Cave, which was designed to facilitate a natural flow from grape receival to bottling. All fruit is handpicked and sorted before being gently gravity-fed into small fermentation tanks for precise vinification. Native fermentations using natural yeasts from the grapes enhance complexity and vineyard expression, leading to wines that truly reflect their origins.

Barrels made from premium French Oak that undergo a lengthy air-drying process are used to age the wines, imparting subtle oak influence while allowing the vineyard character to shine through. Rhys Vineyards' commitment to a gentle gravity system from harvest to bottling ensures that their wines remain pure and unadulterated, showcasing the unique personality of each vineyard in every bottle.
