In May 2022, Brice de la Morandière welcomed tasters back to Esprit Leflaive, providing an opportunity to explore the remarkable 2020 vintage. Under his stewardship, alongside winemaker Pierre Vincent, the winery has revitalized its approach, blending disciplined direction with the estate's inherent flair and exceptional vineyard holdings.
The 2020 vintage reflects the meticulous care and dedication of the Esprit Leflaive team. The harvest began on August 25th and continued through early September, yielding high-quality grapes with a balanced natural alcohol content around 13.2%. Favorable weather conditions throughout the growing season contributed to the vibrancy and complexity of the fruit.
The wines produced in 2020 stand out for their crystalline qualities, perfectly marrying ripened fruit with a vibrant backbone. This vintage exemplifies the purity and precision that define Esprit Leflaive. Many of the wines had already been bottled during this visit, while others were still in tank, promising further refinement.
