The 2022 vintage at Domaine Gérard Mugneret captures the very best of Vosne-Romanée and its neighbouring terroirs, in a year that Jasper Morris MW describes as “looking very good in Vosne-Romanée, with some spectacular individual performances.” In a village already blessed with extraordinary vineyards, Vosne enjoyed the added advantage of being spared the worst of the late June storms that affected communes further north and parts of Nuits-Saint-Georges, allowing the domaine’s parcels to ripen in near-ideal conditions with excellent health in the fruit.

As Pascal Mugneret notes, “the wines are pure, upright, without austerity, the bouquets are open and the palates fresh,” a succinct summary of the style that defines 2022 at the estate. Picking began early, on 28 August, delivering natural degrees between 12.5% and 13.2% from balanced yields of around 40 hl/ha—numbers that translate in the glass into energy, precision, and effortless drinkability. Most cuvées were vinified with 100% whole bunches, a signature choice at Gérard Mugneret that brings lift, aromatic complexity, and refined tannic structure while preserving the translucency of each terroir.

Overall, 2022 at Domaine Gérard Mugneret is a vintage of clarity and harmony: open yet not at all heavy, fresh yet fully ripe, and consistently expressive across the entire range.
