Mild bricking but the core is still ruby. The expressive nose has now gone completely secondary with hints of sous-bois, compost, earth and a vegetal hint that merge into quite supple and round middle weight flavors that possess good detail and solid intensity though the acidity that the vintage is famous for is well represented on the acceptably long if slightly warm finish. Like the '87, this is not especially well-balanced as the tannins lack a bit of maturity but also like the '87, it is not without a certain appeal due to the complexity. I strongly suggest having the '86 with food and I would be drinking this sooner than later.
