Domaine d’Eugénie, located in Vosne-Romanée, Côte de Nuits, is a renowned Burgundy winery established in 2006 following François Pinault’s acquisition of Domaine René Engel after the death of Philippe Engel in 2005. Pinault, owner of Château Latour, Château-Grillet, Clos de Tart, and Eisele Vineyard, renamed the estate in memory of his mother. Covering ~6.5 hectares across Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Flagey-Échezeaux, and small plots in Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault, the domaine produces primarily Pinot Noir-based red wines and, since 2012, limited Chardonnay-based whites. Under the leadership of Frédéric Engerer and winemaker Michel Mallard, the estate has transitioned to biodynamic viticulture (fully certified by 2020) and employs meticulous, terroir-driven winemaking. Its wines, including Clos de Vougeot, Échezeaux, and Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées, are celebrated for their finesse, vibrant fruit, and aging potential, commanding premium prices and high critical acclaim.

Domaine d’Eugénie’s 6.51 hectares are spread across prestigious appellations, primarily in Vosne-Romanée, with additional plots in Vougeot, Flagey-Échezeaux, and Côte de Beaune (Chassagne-Montrachet and Meursault). Key holdings include:

Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru: 1.36 ha, a well-situated parcel producing powerful, structured wines.
Grands-Échezeaux Grand Cru: 0.50 ha, rare and splendid, known for intense fruit and finesse.
Échezeaux Grand Cru: 0.55 ha, offering purity and elegance.
Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées: 1.05 ha, yielding racy, rounded wines with delicate texture.
Vosne-Romanée Village: 2.87 ha, including Clos d’Eugénie (0.5 ha), a monopole with vibrant fruit.
White Wine Plots: Small parcels in Montrachet Grand Cru (4.28 ares), Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru (8.56 ares), Meursault 1er Cru Les Poruzots, and Chassagne-Montrachet Les Perclos, producing limited Chardonnay wines since 2012.

The vineyards, with an average vine age of 40 years, are planted on limestone and clay soils, ideal for Pinot Noir’s complexity and Chardonnay’s minerality. The domaine has been organic since 2008, with biodynamic trials starting in 2009 (Vosne-Romanée) and 2010 (Échezeaux), achieving full biodynamic certification by 2020. No chemical herbicides are used, and soils are plowed to enhance terroir expression.
