Our team recently hosted Maxime Rion, second-generation owner of Domaine Michèle & Patrice Rion, for a compelling staff training session focused on the 2023 vintage.
Maxime shared with us the domaine’s meticulous approach — from the 2023 organic certification and strict selection of the finest grapes (often picking in small 18kg boxes) to their focus on old vines averaging 50–60 years of age. The estate farms around 9 hectares in the heart of the Côte de Nuits, with standout holdings in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny, including the rare family monopole Clos Saint-Marc.
Featured Wines from the 2023 Vintage:
* Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Terres Blanches
Fresh, vibrant and well-structured with notes of Conference pear, green apple and citrus.
* Bourgogne Les Bons Bâtons
Floral, lively and supple with bright red fruit and sweet spice notes.
* Vosne-Romanée
Complex and refined, showing red cherry, blackcurrant, floral notes and exotic spice with vibrant acidity.
* Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras
Aromatic with red fruits, white pepper and violets; silky tannins and a long, fresh mineral finish.
* Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Barrières
Expressive black cherry, rose and violet with a hint of tobacco; spicy, mineral and elegantly long.
* Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Argillières
Powerful and deep with fine tannins and excellent structure.
* Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos Saint-Marc (Monopole)
The estate’s signature wine — elegant, concentrated and full of character.
A session rich in detail, offering a clear window into the precision, patience, and terroir-driven philosophy that define this quietly impressive Côte de Nuits estate.
