An evening where the precision of Burgundy met the artistry of contemporary Cantonese cuisine, as Maison Vincent Girardin’s distinguished wines were presented alongside a bespoke menu at The Eight, one of Macau’s most celebrated two-Michelin-starred dining destinations.
From the vibrant freshness of Bourgogne Blanc Cuvée Saint Vincent 2023 to the crystalline tension of Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières and Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières 2022, the white wines reflected the maison’s signature purity and limestone-driven precision. The dinner then unfolded into a remarkable trio of mature 2009 Grand Crus — Clos de la Roche, Clos de Vougeot and Échezeaux — each revealing a distinct expression of Burgundy’s great terroirs through layers of complexity, finesse and graceful evolution.
Chef Joseph’s six-course menu provided an elegant counterpoint to the wines, allowing both the refined Premier Cru whites and the beautifully matured Grand Crus to reveal their individuality without distraction. Together, the evening celebrated the harmony between exceptional cuisine and site-driven winemaking.
Since its revival under the guidance of Éric Germain, Maison Vincent Girardin has become one of Burgundy’s leading négociants, recognised for crafting wines of remarkable precision that faithfully express the identity of each vineyard. That philosophy resonated throughout every glass poured during the evening.
Our appreciation goes to Maison Vincent Girardin, the exceptional team at The Eight, and all our guests for sharing a memorable evening dedicated to the enduring elegance of Burgundy.
