Oremus, located in the heart of the historic Tokaj wine region, embodies the rich legacy and excellence of one of the world’s most celebrated wine areas. Known as "the wine of kings and king of wines," Tokaj has a storied history that spans over four hundred years, with its vineyards first mentioned in 1630. Renowned for producing exquisite sweet wines, the region has garnered universal acclaim, weaving its narrative into the fabric of wine culture.

In the 1990s, Tokaj's fortunes revived after a period of decline during the communist era, thanks to the investment and expertise of dynamic Western European producers. Among them was Bodegas Vega Sicilia, Spain's premier estate, which acquired one of Tokaj’s most esteemed properties in the village of Tolcsva in 1993. Renamed Bodegas Oremus, the winery features 115 hectares of "first growth" vineyards known for their exceptional terroir, along with several kilometers of underground cellars intricately carved into volcanic rock.

These historic cellars, dating back to the 12th century, provide ideal conditions for aging wines, showcasing the area’s unique winemaking heritage. Oremus employs traditional techniques, utilizing locally crafted 136-liter Gonci and 220-liter Szerednyei oak casks, which impart distinctive characteristics to the wines, allowing them to develop complex aromas and flavors over time.

With a commitment to quality and a deep respect for Tokaj's vinous traditions, Oremus produces a range of wines that exemplify the region's renowned sweet and dry styles. The winery has successfully blended age-old practices with modern innovation, ensuring that each bottle captures the magic of Tokaj while contributing to its prestigious global reputation. Oremus stands as a testament to the resilience and revival of Tokaj, celebrating a legacy that continues to enchant wine lovers around the world.
