Domaine Thomas Morey is a distinguished winery situated in Chassagne-Montrachet, one of Burgundy’s most prestigious wine-producing regions. Famous for its exceptional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the estate embodies the rich traditions of Burgundy while incorporating contemporary winemaking techniques.
Belonging to the tenth generation of the Morey family, Thomas grew up surrounded by the vineyards of his grandparents and later gained valuable experience working for 12 years on his parents' property. In 2006, Thomas and his wife Sylvie took the significant step to establish their own domaine, launching their first vintage in 2007, thus beginning a new chapter in the family’s storied history.
Domaine Thomas Morey spans approximately 10 hectares of meticulously managed vineyards, featuring holdings in some of Burgundy's most coveted appellations, including Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, and Saint-Aubin. The terroir is characterized by limestone and clay soils, which provide optimal conditions for cultivating high-quality grapes. Committed to sustainability, Thomas emphasizes organic farming practices that promote soil health and enhance vine vitality, allowing the vineyards' true character to shine through in the wines.
The winemaking philosophy at Domaine Thomas Morey focuses on minimal intervention and respect for the natural qualities of the grapes. Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted to ensure only the finest fruit is selected. Fermentation utilizes indigenous yeasts, which enhances the wines' authenticity and terroir expression. Aging occurs in French oak barrels, integrating complexity while maintaining the integrity of the fruit.
Through his dedication to quality and innovation, Thomas Morey continues to produce wines that captivate enthusiasts and collectors alike, showcasing Burgundy's rich heritage and solidifying his position among the elite wineries of the region.
